re: Question about Autism diagnosis "levels"

@stackingstones@todon.nl @lapis the first attempt at diagnosing me kinda. has that? bc they asked parents to describe things i had trouble with / what helped with it. and then they wrote a couple-dozen page document about me and didn't give people the actually useful information

of course, that only works when it's a young'un involved, and i didn't get diagnosed then, but still

re: Question about Autism diagnosis "levels"

@stackingstones@todon.nl @lapis i mean it's the same core problem as functioning labels originally. it doesn't actually label functioning at all, just how well you can act nt

my autism diagnosis was weird bc everyone already knew i was autistic beforehand so i went to the whoever and they were like "ok let's read the book together" and then they wrote a note confirming i'm autistic. it was all just a formality, basically, since we both knew i was beforehand

re: Question about Autism diagnosis "levels"

@lapis in the process of typing this i looked it up and it's definitely just a new version of functioning labels wow. worth noting that there aren't any sources here from actual psych professionals and that a$ is the first non-dotcom result. they have three "levels" and level 1 is what "high-functioning" was in functioning labels. i'm not looking further

it looks like they might've actually invented a more ableist version of functioning labels, yikes

legal -

full name is too long to fit in the fields on legal forms, which means having to use physical copies and write things by hand, which means needing a dozen paper forms all in triplicate, which means both excessive waste and way too much spoons just to fill out the forms and now we gotta navigate the hell that is the local court on top of that. all of which could've been avoided if they'd had a decent character limit in these fields—some of them have a char limit of like. 52. why even

@PsyChuan@snouts.online no worries! i like to help out where i can

a label that reads "you are beautiful"
underneath it, a separate label that reads "pepper spray a cop"

@dopple@cryptid.industries i did that with Some english dictionaries but never the big multi-book complete ones (in my defence they didn't let me take those out of the library)

okay i may have memorised multiple dictionaries in my spare time but I Have Never Known Any Words In My Life

bingo 2: electric boogaloo

@dopple@cryptid.industries if we're being technical about this, i wasn't joking. i do not personally know any latin but i have actually spoken it fluently before

bingo 2: electric boogaloo

@dopple@cryptid.industries ok at this point there's literally a single square you didn't fill in and it took me being possessed by a latin ghost to pull that one off half the time this is ridiculous
