anyway, if you have any kind of juice or privilege at your work, use it to dismantle neoliberalism and the end the humiliation of poor folks. People got no right to make others bow and scrape to get something that should be freely given. No more kissing rings.

we had a good conversation about this last night. She says she's sick of people being asked either to pay for or to give their volunteer work for stuff that should just be paid for as a public good.

She's also someone who has had to trot out the difficulties she grew up with as a poor kid just so some well-paid professional would approve a scholarship for her. She says it's gross the way they do this ritualized feeding off of lower class misery. She calls it emotional vampirism. If the money is there, why humiliate people? Just give it to them.
