there Should be a convenient way for people to nonverbally express a general mental state. but it's not currently being developed alongside a system wherein people who don't have the option of just memorising the guidelines have a way to understand it
and really the primary issue is that if it's not accessible for people to understand, they're gonna have to ask for clarification. which, yes, defeats the purpose, but more importantly can cause problems for people who are signalling a bad state
ok so in concept the whole idea of like. easy symbols or whatever to indicate current emotional state / ability to talking / &c. is really great? but uh, it doesn't really work in a medium like this one. it really only works when there's some kind of constant or immediately available reminder of what everything means
like, i'd love to be able to signal that stuff on here, and i'm gonna boost it whenever i see it bc it's a great idea. but it's absolutely hostile to my comprehension in this state
how do you even engage intellectually with someone whose core premise is based on a refusal to engage intellectually with their subject matter
this is what i'm doing currently and i Hate it So Much. there's So Much wilful ignorance i have to wade through just to be able to say 'so yeah this person is full of shit'
It is unfortunate that this is an evergreen tweet.

Wanna fix about 35 to 40% of navigation #accessibility issues for sighted keyboard users at once?
Go to your CSS and get rid of every occurrence of:
{outline: none;} or {outline: 0;}
STOP taking the visible focus indicator away from end users.
Yeah. It’s really that simple.
