haven't seen anything else really addressing this; please do watch it. there's a lot you could learn.
Library socialism
" Library Socialism is connected to several strains in radical thought, like usufruct -- the idea that property could be held in common, but that individuals could assume control over them as needed and enjoy both their use and the use of the fruits of the property, but on condition that they not destroy the property and that they return it when they're done with it.
Also connected is "the irreducible minimum": the commitment by a society to ensure that every person who lives in it must have the basics for happy, fulfilled life, regardless of their status.
Finally, there is "complementarity," the idea that the world can be improved by combining the things we find in it -- just as different metals can make alloys that are stronger than the sum of their parts, the right combinations of our selves and our work can be more than any one of us can accomplish on our own."

A message from Leonard Peltier, an indigenous activist who was framed for murder in 1975 and jailed; his next scheduled parole hearing will be in July 2024, when Peltier will be 79:
"For those of you who are thankful that you have enough food to feed your families, please give to those who aren’t as fortunate. If you are warm and have a comfortable shelter to live in, please give to those who are cold and homeless, if you see someone hurting and in need of a kind word or two, be that person who steps forward and lends a hand. And especially, when you see injustice anywhere, please be brave enough to speak up to confront it. I want to thank all who are kind enough to remember me and my family in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for continuing to support and believe in me. There isn’t a minute in any day that passes without me hoping that this will be the day I will be granted freedom. I long for the day when I can smell clean fresh air, when I can feel a gentle breeze in my hair, witness the clouds as their movement hides the sun and when the moon shines the light on the path to the sacred Inipi. That would truly be a day I could call a day of Thanksgiving."

@zoe that's a contradiction
god is a cop and satan is anti-god so wtf
Thanksgiving PSA
And to be clear the other side is bad too
I've had so many partners & friends not invite me to things bc they've determined the environment isn't one I'd like
But only I know that
You can invite us to things, you don't have to exclude us to be respectful
Just keep us informed
Thanksgiving PSA
If someone trans or even cis queer invites me somewhere I assume that place is safe for me
If I know better it's socially difficult for me to explain my concerns
Be upfront; let us decide our own safety needs and make it easy for us to make a decision based on them
Thanksgiving PSA
Please don't invite trans folks to your trans unfriendly family spaces without warning
Please don't invite any marginalized folks into spaces unfriendly to them without telling them that is the case
This holds for anytime of year to be honest, but especially today where folks invite us to spaces bc we don't have family... But to be blunt being around your trans missic family isn't better than being near ours and def not better than being alone
a bug, not a feature.

don't use he/him or she/her pronouns for any of us without express permission
note that if we ever make you uncomfortable in any way please tell us so we know to stop. we're not always good at figuring these things out on our own
