reminder: if you made 5000 dollars a day since the year 1219 -- 800 years ago! -- you would still have less total money than Jeff Bezos made *EVERY WEEK* during 2018.

Bezos made over 1.5 billion per week that year; you would only have 1.46 billion

reading, listening, and shutting up are 100% free

but y'all white people stay making frivolous life choices and expecting PoCs to pay the price as you "unpack your white fragility" and other nonsense

nationstates

the game has, once again, given me an issue in which people are having difficulty managing stress because they have to juggle life and working multiple jobs. and are complaining that there's no government support

the state....literally provides everything they're asking for already, and then some. do these people just. think they live in a capitalist country or sth??? im so confus. don't they realise there isn't money

everything i post can be translated as "pay attention to me"

stop asking for small town gay bars and start creating queer community spaces that aren't dark loud and drunk thanks

reading the phrase "lesbian poetry in a dead language" and just. big it me energy

Have you heard of this game where you play as a horrible goose that wreaks mischief on the mild-mannered inhabitants of a small English village?

This neural net certainly hadn't.

@silverspookgames i like how silent generation folks being stingy is clearly recognized as a result of the economic crisis they lived through instilling in them incredible anxiety over economic security, but when millennials exhibit the exact same trend in behavior it's seen as a character flaw

I hope people who are both non-cis and non-het have long and fulfilling futures ahead of them!

There are people who are really, really used to misdirecting their way out of conversations and when those people encounter me I almost feel sorry for them

sci fi author: look at these gross aliens from space they're all slimy and gross can you imagine

me: [holding up a piece of paper with a crude drawing of a human] have you ever seen one of these

it'd be nice if there were a way for me to just. talk to people like me, y'know? or at least get to hear what somebody from a similar culture has to say. but the mechanisms of oppression have been designed to isolate us, and the only way for me to come into contact with people of my culture(s) is if i happen to meet them in person. there is no convenient selection of authors who resemble me, or social networks for refugees, or anything like that. i know no one outside my family who's like me

hello yes the number of axes by which various types of power are leveraged to perpetuate the disenfranchisement of marginalised peoples is absolutely staggering and the existence of a Single One of those axes is Absolutely Fucking Inexcusable. if these were systems that just happened to be perpetuating oppression it would be immoral to keep them in place. but these were Deliberately Designed to do this. the fact that they exist At All is unforgivable

old meta drama

still love how when a guy decided it was ok to make fun of an autistic person (who is very clearly disturbed and anxious about being made fun of by strangers), the rest of the fediverse decided that was ok

and then proceeded to get mad at the autistic person for having the gall to be like "hey this isnt ok, please dont make fun of me"

re: old meta drama

anyway, if your response to this kinda situation is "just get over it" or "learn to take a joke".etc

please let me know so i can block you wholesale from efdn

you represent a danger to the mental health of me and every single one of my users

and i dont let people like that be around us

anyway im mad about this partly bc it just makes life difficult (i want to read actually good books) but largely because it's a mechanism by which marginalised groups are prevented from being able to voice their experiences and especially share common experiences with one another? and of course the fact that it plays into minorities not being recognised for their incredible contributions to literature throughout history

queer authors who aren't Writing About Being Queer sometimes get on these lists, but they pretty much have to be cis. definitely no enbies
