White people cause majority of the destruction during protests against injustice when black lives are taken. White people smash windows. White people set fires. And some of those agitators are cops.

When the cops retaliate (and they will) black lives will be at risk because white people don't know how to protest without putting black lives at risk.

And obviously some agitators are cops inciting violence to make their later retaliation justified.

this MLK day, consider actually giving Letter from a Birmingham Jail a read. It's not long, and MLK criminally gets mostly digested through trite soundbites and quotrs. His thoughts deserve to be read and understood in full.

Because it's a skill that's missing in our society, here's how to apologize.

1) Acknowledge harm. "I f'd up." 2) State what you did that was wrong, in a way that shows you understand the harm done.
3) Express regret
4) Say what you're going to change to not cause this harm again
5) Listen.

Don't ask the hurt person for *anything.* It's up to them to accept or not, if they choose.

Don't be clever. Be plain & simple.
