To really think and believe that, is to on the same planet as men who are like, "I called him [f slur] but not in a gay way, I don't hate gay people, it's just what you say". You have to be half-believing absolute nonsense to justify all kinds of obviously bad things throughout in your everyday life. Just speedrunning doublethink all day long.

You know, the issue isn't really with people who play video games (nearly anyone under 65) or even with people who self-identify as gamers (though that's pushing it).
It's with the men who thought/still think "ethics in video game journalism" is a salient issue that lots of normal people care about.
That normal people care so much about ethics in video game journalism that they could use it as a rallying cry for wild-ass claims that would otherwise scare most of the public away.
