Thinking about how uncomfortable I feel when I have to participate in nuclear family activities, like hang out with someone's parents for a holiday or visiting a family.

Even with my own family, I feel like an outsider because I was separated from them when I was a child.

I much prefer being able to do my own thing, up to and including being alone, because when you're alone on a holiday, the whole city is quiet and you can walk around without anyone getting in your way or bothering you.

URGENT Asking for Financial Help :boost_ok:

I am in a really tough financial bind right now. Lyft took out about $15 because of the whole discount thing I use, and I couldn't figure out how to unsubscribe from it. For $15/month you can save 10% on all rides, and because of that I will need another $20 in less than four hours or I won't be able to make it back home from my therapy appointment today.

I am still looking for work, but I won't be able to make it home today without your support.

Please help me out.

When I first got into hanging with techies, people'ld be inviting me rock climbing, inviting me to safe rooms. Tech people have a death wish. I had an escape room growing up, it was called my adoptive family's house. Oh wouldn't it be fun to be locked in a room? Hell no.

Billy Corgan is the white Kanye West. No questions at this time.

A billionaire can decide he wants a sports stadium where your home currently is and your local government will bend over backwards to lick his boots so now your home is gone but tell me again how you live in a "free" country.

Let a, b, c, d be four consecutive Fibonacci numbers.

Further, let a*d and 2*b*c be the legs of a triangle.

Then the triangle is a right triangle, and (c*d) - (a*b) is the hypotenuse.

(For example: 1, 1, 2, 3. The legs are a * d = 1 * 3 = 3 and 2 * b * c = 2 * 1 * 2 = 4. The hypotenuse is (2 * 3) - (1 * 1) = 6 - 1 = 5. So it's a 3-4-5 right triangle.)

What if the Spice Girls were just one woman moving really fast

Fun escape room idea where you lock a bunch of techbros in a room and don't let them out. No clues.

I deeply regret not buying those dopey Linux t-shirts I saw in the Redmond thriftstore. Melissa could be walking around in a bright yellow XXL with a stained penguin on it.

Possibly Shutting Down VidCommons

Due to the extreme emergency mode my life is going into, I can no longer afford to host or maintain VidCommons.org. In case you don't recall, VC is a PeerTube instance serving as a library of Public Domain and Creative Commons media for the fediverse, kind of like what Open Audio is for Funkwhale.

If anyone is interested in transferring ownership to continue running the project, please let me know in short order! Otherwise, the instance will be discontinued at the end of next week.

your irregular but frequent reminder that SD cards are not safe like you think they are

they are not dumb flash, they have a whole ARM running java applets in there and a whole set of NDA'd functionalities intended for DRM

they are specifically designed to make that code easy for vendors to add and near-impossible for you to audit

the newer ones even support DMA over their fancey NVMe/PCIe buses!! panic!!!!

Bird Site; Might Be NSFW

When you don't have a personality outside the things you buy.

can this be the standard icon for responsive design?

"women and cis women" is the most glorious rhetorical reversal against TERFs I've ever seen

in terms of games with hand drawn traditional animation I really liked Jotun

I don't know enough about animation to definitively place the style but I do know that it's gorgeous and doesn't look like many other games I've played

(plus the game's dialog is entirely in Old Norse, which is cool as hell)
