Any trans named "John" ~obviously~ named themselves after John Homestuck, the main character of Homestuck.
This thread brought to you by someone stating that "Keith" is the kind of trans masc name that is ~obviously~ inspired by a fictional character, thereby forcing me to look up the name "Keith" and find out that he's some guy on Voltron.
Btw, it's not an iPhone, because fuck Apple's overpriced walled garden.
Honestly, none of the devices I own nowadays are Apple.
I had to crowdfund for a Macbook to push shit to the app store, and the damn machine broke twice on me within a year.
In 2015, I started teaching myself how to code.
In 2016, I got accepted to a tech bootcamp. They had space for me in the iOS cohort, so I was, like, "Sweet!" even though I had been focused on web up until that point.
I spent the next few years learning how to be annoyed with Apple.
I actually like Swift, but I wish I could use it on non-Apple hardware, for non-iOS things.
Anyway, I was broke until a few months ago, which is why I got my first cell phone in 2010 & first smartphone in 2019.
an Amazon alternative: WorldCat
During the #AmazonStrike running on the 15th and 16th today, here's another alternative to know about:
WorldCat is a catalog of books and media that helps you find out if the book you want is available at *any* library systems near you.
Tips for using WorldCat: Don't forget that (in the US, at least), university and college libraries are open to the public, since your tax dollars pay for them. Remember about interlibrary loans, too: if a book's not available near you, you can ask for it to ne lent temporarily to your local library.
Rest in Power Will Van Spronsen
another kind of white nonsense
Anyway, glad 2be living in a city that didn't immediately cave to Amazon's greedy demands for tax breaks
another kind of white nonsense
Seattle literally has about the same population, and the same ethnic demographics, as Staten Island, the smallest and whitest borough of NYC.
another kind of white nonsense
Honestly, in Seattle, a lot of anti-Amazon sentiment is combined with anti-immigrant sentiment, so it's kind of hard to fuck with people who tell you they hate what Amazon is doing to the city, cuz you're just bracing yourself for them to start talking at you about Amazon bringing in too many foreigners.
Seattle is so white that tech is making it less white by hiring non-locals, and that is truly saying something.
Trans, guy of center, well over 18.
I'm in tech and it feels weird.
