#Bluetooth is bad ...
At this year's DEF CON researchers showed off the ability to use Bluetooth to identify vulnerable digital speakers. Once identified, hackers could take control of the devices and force them to play "dangerous" sounds that could lead to hearing loss in anyone unfortunate enough to be nearby.
AirDrop can be used by malicious actors to determine your full phone number (which reveals a lot about you) due to the way Bluetooth Low Energy works.
But for real.
I went to two public events Tumblr hosted back when I was actively looking for work.
One was in a studio space that felt kind of tight, and the other was in an entirely different building, in a room that didn't take up the whole floor.
I have probably incidentally met a significant percentage of the Tumblr workforce.
Trying to pipe comedy out of the terrible revelation Tumblr only had 200 employees this whole time https://sreegs.tumblr.com/post/187124944072/that-explains-a-lot-is-that-not-many-well
And here's..."Heterosexuality is a Construct"...on Myspace?
I wish I had a better link but you can hear "Philosophical Boxing Gloves" here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtE1-R4Dad8
It's from 2002, so it's about attending a party in person, and not being stuck arguing on Twitter
It's less about feeling guilty for liking unclean media, and more about feeling tricked, even kind of groomed, into thinking bad things are ok.
Like idk it's really hard to separate the art from the artist when the artist is a racist pedophile and the art is about...being a racist pedophile.

"Your fingerprints are not secret & as a result, they are bad authentication tokens because they are easy to clone and hard to revoke. It's like issuing you a password at birth & then never letting you change it. It's an incredibly bad idea from a security perspective." @doctorow@twitter.com https://twitter.com/JosephSteinberg/status/1161875341679267840

@brightneedle There's a whole thing about science as a process having to constantly throw out bad science to get into there, which they don't understand or are being deliberately obtuse about as cover for their prejudices. They love to use obviously bad science to launder bias and bad politics.
The Carnegie Library System workers have unionized and this gleeful piece about it is hilariously good https://splinternews.com/hahahaha-suck-it-andrew-carnegie-1837268365
Trans, guy of center, well over 18.
I'm in tech and it feels weird.
