To old white people around here I exist in a quantum state between "tiny milquetoast nerd" and "ambiguously ethnic queer that is going to rob and kill you"

I don't like baseball, but I like going to baseball games because I enjoy sitting outside with my friends, eating hotdogs, and forcing old white men to leave in a huff because they don't want to sit next to us.

Newspaper: "Why are trans people boycotting 'Adam'? Is it because they've never heard of this small indie film, because it has mediocre reviews, because the premise is transphobic, or because word got out that the trans extras were misgendered, underpaid, and lied to about the movie they were making? On the one hand, there are many reasons to not see this movie -- on the other hand, the director is trans and he says everything is fine. In fact, he compares criticism of the movie to Gamergate."

Bein' shown Facebook ads for "Adam", because I like musical theatre (I don't (Adam isn't even musical theater (just say it's because I'm gay)))

using firefox and thunderbird as part of my resolution to only use software that has a fursona

Lizzie Magie made "The Land Lord Game" in 1904 which was a satire of Capitalism based on Georgist Economics which called for all land to be distributed to working class people.

Charles Darrow stole the idea in 1935 and changed it to reinforce Capitalist Economics.

I can't become an admin because I don't give a shit about whether people use emacs or vim.

Disqualified.

Hot take: identity verification processes that ask about which roads are closest to your house are biased against people who don't own cars and/or have a sense of direction

antisemitism

But for real for real for real, Jewish history has a lot of stories about the arrogant, deluded dictator who accuses Jews of being disloyal to him, and all of them are pretty dark

#Bluetooth is bad ...

At this year's DEF CON researchers showed off the ability to use Bluetooth to identify vulnerable digital speakers. Once identified, hackers could take control of the devices and force them to play "dangerous" sounds that could lead to hearing loss in anyone unfortunate enough to be nearby.

AirDrop can be used by malicious actors to determine your full phone number (which reveals a lot about you) due to the way Bluetooth Low Energy works.

But for real.

I went to two public events Tumblr hosted back when I was actively looking for work.

One was in a studio space that felt kind of tight, and the other was in an entirely different building, in a room that didn't take up the whole floor.

I have probably incidentally met a significant percentage of the Tumblr workforce.

I've been to Tumblr's offices in New York for Meetup events where nerds talk about Android and the like. I always thought it was a little strange they were hosted inside a walk-in closet, but that's Manhattan real estate for you.

I wish I had a better link but you can hear "Philosophical Boxing Gloves" here: youtube.com/watch?v=VtE1-R4Dad

It's from 2002, so it's about attending a party in person, and not being stuck arguing on Twitter

Oh hey Milky Wimpshake is super queer and I'm so happy.

I knew them from "Philosophical Boxing Gloves", a very timely song, but now that I'm digging into the rest of their catalog, I'm relieved that they are indeed Chill and also Bang

Big big shoutout to all the fake allies and nonprofits that talk a lot about poor trans POC while never giving any kind of material support.

Here's to getting through the day without random strangers suddenly touching my body for no reason

It's less about feeling guilty for liking unclean media, and more about feeling tricked, even kind of groomed, into thinking bad things are ok.
