thinking about the destruction of 5pointz this morning

5pointz was this massive set of beautiful graffiti murals in New York. It was on an old building that had been converted into a bunch of studios, and it was visible from the 7 train in Queens.

in 2013, in defiance of appeals to the contrary, the landlord decided he didn't want 5pointz anymore, and he wanted to convert that building into condos. He whitewashed the building overnight, and that was that.
