above room temperature takes, sexualised violence, speaking out as a victim
As a victim of sexual harrassment (countlessly), abuse (lengthily), and rape (on at least two counts) by cis women, I'm starting to think "who's the one trying to cover up (their own, perhaps?) rape?" whenever I hear this.
By the gods, I'm starting to think that no one who comes up with that take that this is just a cover-up operation is possibly a rapist and definitely not to be trusted.
There is this idea that cis women are pristine beings who, on account of not having a dick (I'm gonna leave trans guys out of this because they're being disregarded by both traditional and queer feminism anyway), cannot possibly commit any of these atrocities.
But there is a huge difference between acknowledging that cis men being harrassers, abusers and rapists is a structural issue, and denying that cis women cannot be sexual predators.
And it feeds on essentialism - something that has never been advantageous for *any* marginalised group in history.
above room temperature takes, sexualised violence, speaking out as a victim
So... idk how to start this because as an ex-birdsite poster it seems like no one has ever manages to address this without being shouted down, and I expect to get a lot of blocks out of this, but I need to talk about it anyway.
This is the synopsis of a longer essay I'm going to publish soon-ish so I'll try to keep it brief but I might go off on a tangent anyway because it's an emotional topic, so expect a short thread rather than a single post.
Let's get right to it:
We need to stop acting like cis women cannot be harrassers, abusers, and rapists.
Whenever anyone I know has tried to talk about their experiences with this, they've been told that they're just trying to derail The Conversation (which, since it's about sexualised violence, must be about cis men, or, owing to both transmisia and the prerogative of interpretation that lies with "traditional feminists", trans women), and trying to cover up rape.

Do all the #assman fediversians know about the word callipygian, because it's a great word
people were talking about the millennium bug recently, well it turns out a lot of the fixes just delayed the problem to 2020
"Programmers wanting to avoid the Y2K bug had two broad options: entirely rewrite their code, or adopt a quick fix called “windowing”, which would treat all dates from 00 to 20, as from the 2000s, rather than the 1900s. An estimated 80 per cent of computers fixed in 1999 used the quicker, cheaper option."
"Those systems that used the quick fix have now reached the end of that window, and have rolled back to 1920. Utility company bills have reportedly been produced with the erroneous date 1920, while tens of thousands of parking meters in New York City have declined credit card transactions because of the date glitch."
here's the thing about telling people to CW things:
1. CWs literally, logically cannot be a one-size-fits-all, universal norm. Humans are not limited to needing warnings for "predictable" subjects, or any small/reasonable set of things, at all. any aspect of a traumatic memory can become retraumatizing; my go-to example is someone who pointed out they're triggered by schoolbuses. should everyone, everywhere CW photos of schoolbuses? I don't think so! it's impractical, and how are the vast majority of people supposed to figure out that's a thing?
But if someone in your circles asks you to CW schoolbuses, you can certainly CW schoolbuses. CW conventions CAN be effective when tailored for the needs of a specific community, but this means CW conventions Need to be different between different groups. why?
2. Attempts to be exhaustive about CWs aren't just logically doomed to fail, they're inaccessible.
a. If the rate of CWs is too high, people's ability to make decisions gets overloaded.
i guess they're NYC specific so

This WaPo article about people who went to see Cats high reads like an Erowid trip report from a Nyarlathotep speaking engagement: https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/people-are-seeing-cats-while-high-out-of-their-minds-these-are-their-stories/2020/01/05/d0ebfb3a-2beb-11ea-bcb3-ac6482c4a92f_story.html
We have computed the very first chosen-prefix collision for SHA-1. To put it in another way: all attacks that are practical on MD5 are now also practical on SHA-1.
We have reduced the cost of a collision attack from 2^64.7 to 2^61.2, and the cost of a chosen-prefix collision attack from 2^67.1 to 2^63.4.
Demo: The legacy branch of GnuPG (version 1.4) is vulnerable. We have created two PGP keys with different UserIDs and colliding certificates.
"... [Fra Savonarola's] attempt to root out sodomy gained him many enemies. Organized groups of youths demonstrated against his measures, interrupted his sermons, and attacked his followers, the 'reformed' boys whom he had recruited in an attempt to protect them from the enticements of older sodomites. [...]
During his Ascension Day sermon on May 4, 1497, bands of youths rioted and the riot became a revolt against everything the friar syood for. The taverns reopened, men gambled in public, and it is said that a high public official gleefully declared, 'Thank God now we can sodomize again.' In June Savonarola was excommunicated by Pope Alexander VI and arrested. On May 23, 1498, on the platform to which he had condemned so many, Savonarola was himself hanged and burned. As the executioner was preparing to burn the lifeless corpse, [...] a citizen of Florence seized a torch and lit the flame, crying, 'The one who wanted me to burn is now himself put to the flames.'"

https://pastebin.com/rjhZrzpu if anyone is curious about why i call myself a python war criminal
this is a single python expression (you could stick it, without the comments, into an eval statement and it'd work)! it is also a valid python program. in fact, it's a tiny video game
the source is like 1.3kb when you remove all the newlines and syntactically unnecessary spaces. i might try to golf it down further someday
