what if instead of including a library i just implemented the protocols i needed
@boots Tried implementing X manually once, got stuck somewhere, don't really know why. I did get *somewhere* though!
... but not enough to get a window.
X11 proto spec should be available as pdf and/or postscript.

@cutscenes what i want to do is just be able to scribble directly onto the screen without windows or anything
@boots Ah right, You'll probably want the root window.
Though maybe there's some other approach involving a special kind of window which might not exist.
...OK, maybe the root is the best choice. Kinda bad to say that but it may actually be your only option.
