can some poor soul just delve into the php write an GNU Social addon that does mastodon interoperability for Mastodon As It Is so everyone stops worrying about GNU social federation at the least

@KitRedgrave do you have any proposals for making the current feature-set work with other instance software
@boots I do: fix the line break weirdness, move to using conversation_id in status chains instead of stitching together in_reply_to, add NodeInfo or some other out of band means to identify a Mastodon node for delivering "DMs" to, later add !groups to the software, tweak response codes to not differ so severely that GS instances consider them federation failures and keep retrying... there is a lot of stuff that Mastodon seems to do out of spec and nobody is listening

groups are weird and out-of-spec and they're basically so far-off and not necessary yet that i wouldn't even list them >_>
