give me a nine-key keyboard that's just one key to hold down for each bit you want set and a ninth you press to enter that byte

@typhlosion at that point why not have a 16 key keyboard where each key represents each hex digit and pressing two in succession inputs that hex

@boots @typhlosion give me a 256 key keyboard where I can type a byte, etc

Follow

@Fuego @typhlosion that's literally exponentially bigger though

@boots @typhlosion did we want a small keyboard? One key that says yes and the computer guesses bytes I want and gives me 3 sec to press yes

@boots @Fuego this thread has become the /r/programmerhumor of peripheral hardware

more reasonably i'd suggest a 32-key board with three extras you can hold down to control the top three bits... but i guess that's what the current style of keyboard design originally was

@typhlosion @boots that thing I said was how you used to upload to old satellites ;)

@Fuego @typhlosion a button to tap out binary bytes

the delay between bits is about a quarter of a second, you have to tap within that period if you want to enable that bit
