@jlward yeah it was more just a thought and less something against it
a common misconception about tilde.town is it's for programmers to chat first and then socializing second.
tilde.town has never been "for" programmers; it is exclusively a place for being vulnerable and socializing with people in a friendly space. sure, we might chat about tech stuff, but it's one of many topics.
hiding out inside a computer is a defensive strategy against the poison nightmare world of web 3.0, not an exclusionary tactic.
to participate, just be open, empathetic, and nice.
@Dimduning commuting??
@Elizafox well apparently someone's rehosting it http://keygenjukebox.net/
@Elizafox remember when keygen jukebox was up
@KitRedgrave all of that's fair except for groups
groups are weird and out-of-spec and they're basically so far-off and not necessary yet that i wouldn't even list them >_>
@KitRedgrave do you have any proposals for making the current feature-set work with other instance software
@KitRedgrave i mean yeah but like
it's either Shitty Fix That'll Become Required or Nothing, Ever
@Elizafox H IN THE REPLIES BECAUSE YOU ARE SO FUCKIN PREDICTABLE.
A word of warning to anyone upgrading to Mastodon 1.3(.1)!!!
Starting with 1.3(.1) Private posts will federate! But they don't do so securely! Warnings are built in but be aware that if you have followers on GNU Social, Friendica, or postActiv then they will **NOT** know that your post is marked private/followers-only!! And they **will** be able to boost it!! Once they do so, it becomes a public post
This is not opt-in, it just happens post-update
If this worries you, go audit your followers
i will no longer be on computerfairi.es
please follow @boots
