The Open Letter to Stop 'Dangerous' AI Race Is a Huge Mess szmer.info/post/301607

Here we go again: Mastodon is not just for FOSS and Fediverse purists. If i want to post highlighting that I am also on other platforms, some you may not like or want to use - just scroll to the next post. Be accepting that people are in other places. Lecturing people and hassling people about being in places you don’t like is unhelpful notification noise and I will block people who keep doing it.

After the Supreme Court issued its Dobbs decision overruling Roe v Wade last year, each state was left to make and enforce its own abortion laws. Many red states had already put abortion “trigger” laws in place that would leap into effect the moment Roe was overturned, while many blue states rushed to pass additional protections to guarantee the right to abortion access.

Then there was Wisconsin, where a law essentially banning all elective abortion procedures has Democrats in the state fired up and ready to fight back. They get a big chance to do so next Tuesday. thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p

I'm not sure who needs to hear this but you don't owe anyone on the internet your real name or a profile image that's a real photo of you.

A Manifesto for a Smaller, Denser Internet

"We believe that a truly sustainable and resilient digital public sphere is possible and is actively being created. We envision a public sphere supported by these three legs:

1. Consists of many different platforms with a wide variety of scales and purposes;

2. Users can navigate with a loyal client that aggregates, cross-posts, and curates;

3. Is all supported by cross-cutting services rooted in interoperable data.

I know there are several similar tools for D&D 5th Edition but at the same time, Paizo literally gives AoN its blessing for its community to use its free tools on AoN to run campaigns, look up monsters, and create characters. Whereas WotC...wants creators money. Or they don't (honestly, that whole OGL situation has made me completely lose trust in WotC as a company to actually create things)

"The difference a truly open gaming system makes: 's ruleset is available online, for free, LEGALLY.

"Because of that, there's dozens of online tools to search for specific rules, build monsters, build your character-- All freely available.

Transphobia, gun violence

"Hi, I'm autistic and trans and I beg you to not equate being autistic & trans to being a murderer."

Gonna try to start cross-posting from Twitter on here. Mostly just posting on here what I find over there and for the time being vice versa wherever I can remember to log onto the hellhole.

A good percentage of my friends are Nazis. That percentage is zero; that’s a good percentage of Nazi friends to have.
