A special kind of would create a character that's an elven College of Whispers Bard named Eilia Lhoss, which is Sindarin for "rain whispers."

It's me, I'm a special kind of nerd.

Sadness is knowing you won't be able to see Eva Noblezada in because she's exiting the cast and you don't have money to go to

To be clear, “The [#sagaftra] Interim Agreement is not a waiver… it is a #contract that includes all terms & conditions for producers looking to employ our members on their specific independent productions… If the AMPTP continues to refuse to bargain, our strategy denies them the ability to freely make their own original productions, allowing everyone other than the AMPTP to produce content with our members.” » sagaftra.org/message-about-int

please set your body font to ui-sans-serif, system-ui, -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, sans-serif if you absolutely have to use a pyramid of fallbacks

do not explicitly name ANY fonts

Show thread

also, the CSS generic font names got extended a while back. you can now use system-ui, ui-sans-serif, ui-serif, and ui-monospace to request various system fonts, allowing you to honor your users' font preferences with no effort

every time i see some shit like -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, "Segoe UI", "Noto Sans", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif, "Apple Color Emoji", "Segoe UI Emoji" i Scream

apropos of nothing, irregular reminder to replace fonts.google.com or fonts.googleapis.com with fonts.bunny.net anywhere that you use it

it's a drop-in replacement that is privacy-respecting and isn't fucking google

i generally prefer to embed my own fonts and trim them down to just characters i need, but this is markedly better than staying on google and requires basically no effort

seems like things are going good over at Reddit where the company (led by its CEO “spez”) just launched its open pixel art canvas known as r/Place while users protest against recent Twitter-like API changes that killed third-party apps

Facebook helped fascists hunt down a woman who got an abortion and you clowns still wanna federate with them.

I was fortunate to participate in today’s #sagaftra rally in #Boston. It was encouraging to march with a couple hundred #actors — about 6% of the New England membership — in support of this industry we genuinely love. Here is the complete segment on today’s events from which this screen capture is taken » wcvb.com/article/new-england-s

Professional #actors want to do the work for which we are most highly skilled and trained, and receive a fair, negotiated compensation that allows us to qualify for health insurance, support ourselves and our families, and which accounts for cost of living and economic inflation. We seek fair valuation of our contributed skills and talents in the #film and #TV entertainment enjoyed by so many.

Truth and honesty in business is the most effective means to achieve an end that is worthwhile and beneficial to all parties involved in contractual agreements. The recently expired #sagaftra TV/Theatrical contract was finalized before (or just at the start of) the Coronavirus pandemic and no longer reflects the paradigm that is this new, inflated economy in which we are trying to exist, and in which significant portions of entertainment are consumed on streaming platforms.

Show thread

What is needed is truth in data:
* what the actual subscribership volumes are for each streaming platform;
* the associated revenue attributed to the subscriber volumes by platform and by country;
* the viewership data of these subscribers by platform and by episode/film. All of these data already exist and are known to production companies — but are not made available to #sagaftra

As reference, the Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) gross profit for the 12 month period ending 31 Mar 2023 is $15,476,000,000—that’s $15.476 billion—a 101.63% increase YoY. In Moody’s estimate, $600,000,000—$600 million—is one twenty-fifth WBD gross profits, alone. $600 M does not seem a heavy burden for production entities which make billions per annum and which, sadly, have not bargained fairly or transparently. » macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/

Neil Begley, a debt analyst for Moody’s, wrote 17 Jul, “this standstill could be a relatively long strike” Further, “we estimate an agreement incr. compensation under new collective bargaining agreements will ultimately cost Moody’s-rated companies an additional $450 M to $600 M a year for each year of a new 3-year contract for all 3 guilds (DGA, WGA & #sagaftra)” » hollywoodreporter.com/business
