More on the Justice Thomas ethics problem:
Interesting that yesterday I heard from three different people, a tax practitioner (right here on Facebook), a dentist (at dinner), and a retired laborer (in a phone call), all tell me that because Justice Thomas’ contributor(s) had no cases before the Court, the Justice was not ethically obligated to report their financial ties. Obviously this is not true.
Two things are significant:
1) Fox entertainment TV is the source of misinformation? These are three people who do not regularly deal with ethics policies in their work and are not likely to be students of ethics. They do watch Fox TV. In contrast, I do regularly deal with employment ethics policies as an adviser, board member, or Form 990 preparer for nonprofit organizations. I’ve never seen or read about an employment ethics policy for a lawyer or government employee that allows employees to choose which financial relationships they disclose. (I have no experience with judicial ethics policies, but there is no indication in any credible media that an ethics policy for judges is different). Any student of ethics knows that selective disclosure is a flawed concept. So I assume that false narrative is coming from a media source like Fox entertainment network. This appears to be another effort at mass misinformation, similar to the election fraud misinformation campaign.
2) Damages? Any person who was subject to an ethics policy in their work (like government employees, lawyers and accountants) knows that you don’t get to pick and choose which financial relationships you disclose. The spreading of this false information could have negative ripple effects throughout industries subject to ethics policies. If so, this will eventually cause real world damages.
If my theory is true that this another Fox lie, are there any lawyers out there willing to suggest that Fox may be liable for damages for lying to the public again?

At what point are people going to realize that NYT and CNN won't be shamed out of their rightwing asskissing?

Yes, what they're doing is dangerous and irresponsible, whether CNN's shitshow tonight or NYT platforming dangerous and willfully disingenuous whataboutism about trans people.

But being shocked about it? Folks: have you not been paying attention? how many times recently have they done things like this? Because we can count more than a few times. It's deliberate. Name it.

The fucking cheating Nazi pieces of shit in Ohio also stacked the Ohio Supreme Court with cheating Nazi pieces of shit so there's no legal challenge.

Rules and laws don't matter to Nazi pieces of shit.

"NY Times: House Republican Report Finds No Evidence of Wrongdoing by President Biden
After months of investigation and many public accusations of corruption against Mr. Biden and his family, the first report of the premier House G.O.P. inquiry showed no proof of such misconduct."

One of the things that made Twitter so powerful was its ability to amplify calls for grassroots activism— it's time to see if Mastodon can deliver the goods, too: if you want to help send the message that fascists should not be given a national platform to spew their hateful rhetoric: open Apple News (or your Android equivalent) and block the *CNN Politics* channel

“Back in 2017, if you wanted a car that cost less than $20,000, you had 11 options. [In] March of 2023, and that list had been narrowed to only two. The average price of a new car is currently more than $48,000, up 30 percent over the last three years.”

Cars are now for the rich. Cities that support car-free living will be the winners.

AOC on CNN's Trump town hall: "I know you said earlier that you will not comment on the platforming of such atrocious disinformation, but I would. I think it was a profoundly irresponsible decision ... it was shameful."

In 2024 when Trump is GOP nominee one of top issues will be reproductive freedom. I urge people not to say the Supreme Court overturned Roe v wade but instead: "Donald Trump OVERTURNED Roe v Wade." After all Trump promised in 2016 to appoint justices to overturn Roe and he did.

Yes, the climate has always changed.

But, the speed of recent change is unprecedented.

More importantly, we understand why.

Burning fossil fuels & deforestation adds carbon dioxide to the atmosphere which warms the planet.

Simple physics. Understood for more than a century.

The Supreme Court just ruled that mifepristone will remain available pending appeal, but the fate of the safe and effective drug used in more than half of all U.S. abortions is still up in the air.

Let's be clear: There's nothing "pro-life" about blocking access to medicine.

Please do NOT applaud the GOP controlled Supreme Court for putting a hold on the Trump appointed judge's decision banning the abortion pill. We are ONLY here because the GOP extremists on the Court that Trump picked overturned Roe v Wade!

“But how can we afford paid leave?”

“But how can we afford free child care?”

“But how can we afford student loan forgiveness?”

“But how can we afford universal health care?”

How? We make the super-wealthy pay their fair share.

Republicans don't give a damn about the deficit. They've raised the debt ceiling again and again while handing out trillions in tax cuts to billionaires.

Their end goal is to gut popular programs like Social Security and Medicare, which tens of millions of Americans rely on.

The safest place from gun violence is an NRA convention, where guns are not permitted because they are too deadly.

Out of respect for tireless #NRA lobbyist Wayne LaPierre, I think we should start calling these incidents "NRA Freedom Parties." At an NRA Freedom Party in Dadeville AL last night, 20 people were shot, mostly teenagers celebrating a sweet 16. Freedom! #guns wrbl.com/news/more-than-20-sho
