One of the tallest hurdles for better social media may be the apparent human allergy to citing sources for asserted facts.

An idea is not a fact until it has a reputable source.

Beyond labeling misinformation, how can the design of a social system strongly encourage its members to cite sources for their claims?

When that question finds a satisfactory answer, misinformation will also become more readily apparent for anyone who wants to learn the facts (or lack thereof) behind popular opinions.
