the dramatic spoken bit in the mv bothers me. it's where a bridge would be, and feels like it's stating the grand message of a serious song meant to inspire, but all it does is highlight that it isn't about anything in particular ('go in there and just do it, whatever it is'). whatever it is could be brave or stupid and reckless! like all these people behaving like covid is over!

what is pink's trustfall about? falling in love? returning to irl gatherings in a post-pandemic world? collective action in the face of political corruption and/or economic collapse?

at the library earlier an elementary schooler broke out singing "MOMMY DON'T KNOW DADDY'S GETTING HOT, AT THE BODY SHOP" at the top of his lungs before getting shushed by a librarian. i was mortified, as though merely by virtue of having two things in common with sam smith, i was personally complicit in putting their mildly suggestive lyrics in the mouths of babes

i do not understand pop charts in the same way i do not understand the economy. does it matter why eggs were $10 at the store? was there opportunism upstream on top of inflation & the avian flu outbreak? idk, i put the eggs back. does it matter why a seemingly mid song is dominating the charts? bc art is subjective and my ears always evolving, i've spent too much time wondering about it, but charts reflect a lot of things other than artistic merit and current tastes that i have no insight into

i hate social media but where else am i supposed to go scream about pop music
