what particularly annoys me is the aphorism that "students should have 10 minutes of work per grade level"

Bullshit. most kids have 7 hour school days. You're telling me a 17 year old kid should have to work 45 hour weeks before after school activities/part time jobs?

there's no fucking way in hell I'd ever let my kids in IB. Last thing they need at that age is getting the work ethic of "if you don't work yourself to physical and mental exhaustion, you're a failure" I'd also probably put a 2 AP classes at a time limit. Just fucking absurd

@realmaxkeeble Speaking as someone who once took four AP classes at the same time, all with immense workloads, I thank you for this.

@feferi I also did 4 AP classes in senior year (3 in junior year) and after going to college I realized what I thought was normal was just me feeling shitty all the time

that being said I just didn't do my homework as much as I could get away with to still get a B+ to A- in the class. my thinking was that if it took 5 extra hours a week to get an extra five points in a class that had nothing to do with how well I learned, I didn't see the point
