I know I don't post here much, but that's mostly out of embarrassment due to my failure to follow through with my goal of making online videos, but guess what I finally made one how about that? :blobcheer:

I got the software. It transcribes beautifully. Unfortunately it doesn't play nice with the other programs I need to run while making videos, and I've needed to get creative about how I use it.

It's going to work though. Will likely need to spend a week practicing with it, but then I'm good to go. Can't wait!

As I was getting ready to record a practice video, I came to the realization that free voice-to-text software is trash.

Like, literally all of it. And my plans for my channel being independent of Youtube requires transcripts of all my videos.

So I had to buy transcription software. It arrives Monday. I don't know how long it'll take me to figure out how to use it, or to "train" it since that's apparently a thing you need to do with the good shit.

I hate all these delays. :blobfrowningbig:

Mentally exhausted, but I do believe I figured out how to operate the camera. So I can maybe start recording stuff in a couple days??

Ok wow haven't posted here forever so here's a whopping update.

Still working towards having a channel. Almost ready. Bought a new video camera. It's incredibly complicated. Spending today searching for YT tutorials on how to use it. Feeling overwhelmed. It has... a lot of buttons... and features I don't understand.

Ok, so that part I keep talking about it is probably getting installed today, and then I will try to at least make a brief little video today, and upload it today so I can start the new year off right. :blobpray:

Final part for my PC upgrade arrives tomorrow. Will be installed before the week is up hopefully. Then I guess I'll get started. Am writing a video script, but I don't think it'll be the first one I upload. I actually have no idea what's getting uploaded first now.

Also still trying to make choices about exactly where videos will get uploaded besides my own website. will probably be one of them, but I'd still maybe like to throw a third one into the mix.

Do any of you know anything about the Mastodon as a Sidebar addon for ? Is it trustworthy? Will it steal my data, and sell it to Russia?

addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firef

I'm getting closer to launching my "Youtube" channel. Scarequotes because won't be the channel's primary home. My website (which is down at the moment because I'm moving it to its server) will actually be its own channel, and primary hub. Youtube will be secondary. Videos will be posted there a week later.

Basically Youtube will just be backup, and if it takes videos down no big deal. They were already posted to their real site anyway.

Should I have a look at too maybe?

Fediverse: We are family - We are Community - We are Future

(deutsche Version darunter)

----(English Version)----
While I was watching the EU talk "The future internet regulation" I came across the idea that we shouldn't proceed calling the fediverse, federation and ourselves as an "alternative social network" or an alternative to facebook, twitter or other social networks. In german I would call that "tiefstapeln" that can maybe translated as "to be overmodest".

We should be conscious that decentralized systems like the fediverse and federation are the future of the internet. So, when we are talking about us and our communities, we should start talking instead of the alternatives of the internet/social networks / etc about the future of the internet !

With decentralized systems like the fediverse and the federation are, it is possible to create _real_ digital communities. Regardless if they are virtual worldwide or regional local. Start realizing that the fediverse and federation is the start to a future, where community and democracy could go hand in hand.

It's just our mindset. But it is important to understand that this small change in words, how we describe ourselves makes a huge difference. So let's state:

We are family - We are Community - We are Future

----(Deutsche Version)----

We are family - We are Community - We are Future

#Fediverse #Federation #Friendica #Mastodon #Pleroma #Hubzilla #Pixelfed #Peertube #Funkwhale #Diaspora #ActivityPub

#WeAreFamily #WeAreCommunity #WeAreFuture

One of my biggest pet peeves while watching channels is when the video title says "True Story" and... it's the retelling of some unconfirmed posts from .

Not anything wrong with a quality retelling of an interesting story from Reddit, but don't lie. It detracts from your own credibility.

Maybe people should start wearing small, hidden body cams that are activated by police proximity.

Mastodon instances are still vulnerable to trolls account hopping, but users are at least empowered to block and mute...instead of having to wait around for a problem user to get banned.

I often wish people would abandon for so I could delete my account there. Twitter is awful, and I resent needing to have one there to easily access content I want to see. But then I remember that Mastodon can easily be exploited in similar ways. It just isn't worth it for people in power to invest the time and money into doing so here when the userbase is so small.

So... really glad I didn't buy because it was released with a lot of really bad bugs. Going to wait and see if they're ever fixed. Wow, what a letdown. :blobfrowningbig:

comes out in a few hours! I still don't know if I want to buy it or not. Usually want to wait until a game's been out at least a week, but I love baby animals so much how am I supposed to do that??
