In the event of corpo web 2.0 crashing and burning I feel like I'm actually doing shit for myself again like reading or playing games instead of mindlessly scrolling (granted there were other helps for that also, such as 🍄, the school term ending, and a cross-country move; this kinda just seals the deal)

I definitely prefer lemmy/kbin to mastodon, but I'm more of a forum guy than a microblog guy

To anyone thinking about joining BlueSky, especially artists: everything you post is used to train generative AI models.
BlueSky uses AI to label content for moderation, and to do that they use a company called https://thehive.ai. If you look through their privacy policy, you will see that they all content sent to them to train models for all their services, which include generative AI for both text and images.
It’s a built in “feature” and cannot be turned off.

My greatest advice to those concerned: Start archiving. If you come across something you believe is valuable: make a copy.
If you follow a guide on how to install and configure software and you found it helpful: make a copy.
If you come across a video you really enjoy and find yourself coming back to again and again: make a copy.
If it means anything to you: make a copy, or you'll wish you did.
