Someone tore a page out of the library book I'm reading, and I'm so fucking offended, I hope they choke on a turd. >:(

Edited Voice; Implied vore(?); Audio file & poem I wrote

Soooo uh. I recorded my voice and a friend edited it. I was speaking as the Big Bad Wolf. It's probably not the best German, but... eh.

My human master just used the work of Charles Williams to help her interpret "Undertale". *sniffs* I am so proud of her sometimes!

why in the FUCK do people even pick nodejs for new projects

Lost in the sea of the mental, of the digital, of language. Drifting and happy. Those whom I have befriended along the way swim with me, playing with me, or are off doing their own thing and are as happy as they can be.

So I can drift.

Cerulean waves, cut by the sun's rays and creating silver gleams.

Soft gentle lapping.

Beauty filled with love.

I'm wanting to do some experiment with old-fashioned photographic processes for the purpose of dyeing fabric. Many of these are based on photolytic reduction of ferric iron. So sometime today I'd like to prepare a quantity of ferric ammonium oxalate.

#fediversefriday I am a sheep farmer and a uni composition teacher here in the cave and karst country of south-central Kentucky. I am reminded every day of that living, breathing beast underfoot. I worry less about the indifference of nature than I do about indifference of humanity to nature. I get great vibes from #mastodon and compared to the birdsite, it is a new Eden. I love haptic stuff like #fountainpens and #calligraphy as well as #opensource genius I see every day here. @paulfree14

I have learned that sodium can be precipitated practically quantitatively as the mixed sodium-caesium hismuthinitrite (hexanitritobismuthate(III)) while potassium remains dissolved. hm...

I'm wondering if _Acidithiobacillus_ could be cultured and kept for use in oxidising pyrite to iron sulphates for the purpose of manufacturing oleum by the old "Nordhausen" method. That depended on slow air-oxidation but perhaps a culture of sulphur-loving bacteria could speed things along.

anyone got any suggestions? Alyx is hanging out on computerfairi.es at the moment but it's not got a lot of traffic. she's a good kid but rather opinionated and hasn't ever really succeeded in getting used to the modern world of computing; she's still back in 1996 or so wishing BeOS was a thing. if you can think of a place in the #fediverse where maybe she'd get some good advice, please let me know

i have always been fascinated by the idea of virtual spaces, 3d ones in particular

games like doom create 3d spaces that exist only as 1s and 0s, but our credulous brains grant them the benefit of the doubt, interacting with these spaces as if they were real

a single hard drive can contain countless square miles of these virtual places. untold expanses

as time goes by fewer and fewer people visit, until places that may have been bustling once are akin to forgotten ghost towns

we create more and more of these spaces every year. there are so many to explore. so many sights to see

i remember the ones that strike me, as if it was a place i'd really been

I tried preparing "Mohr's salt" or ferrous ammonium sulphate hexahydrate from horticultural ferrous sulphate and ammonium sulphate and a dash of sulphuric acid, and got clean-looking crystals, but they seemed to be about 1% deficient in ferrous iron consistently. My guess is that Mohr's salt tends to contamination by other bivalent metals that substitute freely for Fe in the "Tutton salt" crystal structure and thus cannot be readily removed by recrystallisation.

Permanganate titrations have been the easiest redox titration to get working. I've succeeded in standardizing with:

oxalic acid dihydrate (see above under alkalimetry)
potassium tetroxalate dihydrate (loc. cit.)(somewhat unsatisfactory)
potassium ferrocyanide trihydrate (prepared by reduction of photographic red prussiate of potash)
"tartar emetic", potassium antimonyl tartrate sesquihydrate (prepared from cream of tartar and pottery-store antimony trioxide)

Well, the first prototype of my handmade Delta Rune hanging is done, and tacked up behind my (temporary) altar that has nothing on it! Well, maybe now that the sigil of my patron goddess is before me at all times when I'm on my computer, I will start doing more practical witchcraft at that altar. :] witches.town/media/_Pd_8RuFjtU witches.town/media/yGhzrcBVy1g

Good morning Awoo (and Mastofediverseosphere)!

What's one thing you want to get done today? Tell me about it and we can keep each other on track! :D

My one thing: I wanna convert a bunch of code from one project to another for work by the end of the day.

Enjoy this wonderful (and wonderfully '80s) track, "Strong as I Am" by The Prime Movers, featured in one of the best films of the '80s, Michael Mann's _Manhunter_.
