video game rambling, maybe addiction cw?
i love talking about mmo endgame and progression and right now i'm playing dfo again (unfortunately) and i like, see through all of its "endgame" as just another well oiled addiction machine. when you go into a hell mode theres a tiny chance you'll get an epic drop, and its got a flashy animation so you're like ooh cool!!! that hit the pleasure sensor in my brain! but it wasn't the epic i was looking for so i gotta keep going forever i guess!!! it sucks.

i HATE that the game is like this because its one of my favorite gameplay styles, i love the idea of a beatemup mmo, thats really really cool to me. if/when i make one inevitably, i'm gonna make sure i give it something more akin to like, diablo's loot system where you're rewarded for simply playing the game, and the more you do the more you can do harder content and the better loot you can get, instead of static epic drop tables. also the community sux
