Godot
It's open source and awesome! I haven't used it, but it looks great and you can do a ton of stuff with it!
But it also has places where it shines and places where it doesn't
Godot, with the scenemary code and library, is great for UI heavy stuff. Like point and click adventures, RPG style games and similar.
You can just style stuff to your hearts content and that's where Godot is best at.

Pico 8
It's a great console and if you can afford it, I highly suggest it!
It's good to learn code, you can make great games with it, but it's mostly very well at puzzle games and similar and falls rather flat at platformers.
Now again. It's not that you can't make platformers with it and there are a lot of resources to do platformers in pico.
But it is a lot harder to make one in pico, than to make one in GMS2
On happier subjects, I got a new phone! And the wallpaper has fairies! <3
