I've been standing in line for the #BerlinTechJobsFair for 80 minutes now and it's time I started livetooting this

At first I thought it's either a huge success or abysmal organization. I lean heavily towards the latter now since after 80 minutes I can't even see the end of the line. It cannot be so great a success to be worth this.

I mean, for standing in line this long, I better get at least three jobs out of this. #BerlinTechJobsFair

Which I won't, instead there will be three hundred applicants for every job on offer here. #BerlinTechJobsFair

Since I can't even see the end of the line, it's entirely possible that there's nothing at all there. Just the exit and that's it. #BerlinTechJobsFair

In fact, this line has a bit of a 1930s unemployment line atmosphere. Maybe at the end of it we all get a bowl of soup? #BerlinTechJobsFair

Which would be fair, since I'm hungry and tired just from standing in line. 90 minutes now. #BerlinTechJobsFair

Interesting observation: there's hardly any white dudes in this line. Almost exclusively marginalized people. #BerlinTechJobsFair

Which leaves two possibilities, IMO: either white dudes are a tiny minority in tech now, or it's the marginalized people who got laid off almost exclusively in the current tech crisis and the white dudes are still comfortably employed. #BerlinTechJobsFair

My observations do not point to white dudes being a tiny minority in tech. #BerlinTechJobsFair

Observation not so much about the job fair but more about the building: it is not accessible. There's three stairs leading to the main entrance. No ramp. There's a sign pointing to a supposedly accessible entrance around the corner. Wtf is wrong with having a ramp to the main entrance, architects? Would that take too much precious space away from the able bodied people? #BerlinTechJobsFair

Also: nobody's wearing a mask (me neither 😬). Wonder what the infection rate is going to be. #BerlinTechJobsFair

When registering we had to book a time slot. I booked from 3 to 5. I fully expect to be turned down at the entrance because by the time I arrive (after 1:50 in line now) my time slot is over. #BerlinTechJobsFair

Turning another corner right now. Still cannot see the end of the line. #BerlinTechJobsFair

Just got my ticket checked, so I guess I'm officially inside! The line continues though, up the stairs, so I would not hazard a guess as to when I finally can talk to some hiring companies. It's been exactly two hours in line now, by the way. #BerlinTechJobsFair

I want to make it to the exhibition space now though, I won't even have time to talk to anyone any more, but I want to see what we all were waiting for #BerlinTechJobsFair

Ooh, I can see something that might be the exhibition space 🍸🥳#BerlinTechJobsFair

Lol ok wut. They printed a badge and bracelet for me and I'm finally in. Have to pass several corridors to get to the room. It's refreshingly not-full. #BerlinTechJobsFair

It's also a total disappointment.
About 15 exhibitors. Most of the booths are staffed by only one person. The lines are correspondingly long.

@femmeonabike Oh my god, we left when the line was "only" in the court because we didn't think it was worth it. We had been there at 13:20 and they send us away, saying the event won't start before 14:00 (why let us book earlier slots then?). So we went to grab some lunch, came back by 14:00 and were really surprised... also that the Programm wouldn't start before 15:00, which they send after the slot reservations?! m(

But there was a sign for an accessible entrance at least.

@puzzlestuecke yeah it was *so* not worth it and one of the worst organized events I've been to since... I dunno, ages! Good you left.
And yes, there was a sign, but why should wheelchair users enter through the back entrance? It was a shit show royale in all aspects.
At least I had fun livetooting though!
