During the time that I was away from mastodon, I tried this whole social network thing called in-real-life. I didn't really like it as much, it can be a scary place.

Thing that I've learned - privilege can be intersectional in weird and unexpected ways. I had thought that I was good at navigating this, but over the last year, I've learned that honestly, it's always possible to learn more, grow more, and develop a more healthy respect for the ways that capitalism can mess you up.

@scarly so what you're telling me is I should wear a sunhat when I go to kill god

Wooooooo! I'm still alive.

Concussions are serious business. Having now done everything that you could do to mess myself up after my own. I have advice for anyone that might get one of these -

o Don't go back to work asap is possible
o Do listen those that love you and are yelling at you to sit tf down
o Do avoid hitting your head again
o Definitely do not hit it a third time in a row
o Don't pick a fight with an indescribable eldritch horror in a sunhat
o Do praise rabbits and bunnies

i'm still alive! just trying to resume functioning in a capitalist society while grappling with continued concussion recovery

"return to full time" is a simple phrase that hides a lot of complexity and health challenges

Pronouns PSA

Daily reminder that if you refuse to use someone's pronouns because you find them 'silly' or 'dehumanizing', you're playing into respectability politics.

Denying someone the agency to tell you who they are and how they wish to be addressed is dehumanizing and demeaning in a very -real- way.

guys that take the time to review bomb movies with women in them are pretty pathetic

at this point, i just assume that any cishet guys in my orbit are gonna get canceled within a year or so. and in most cases, yeah it happens.

another day another way for me to earn the "shrill female" badge from my male family members when i smack them for sexism.

@scarly upgrade your family by replacing all humans by mouses 🐁

i need a new family. mine is objectively terrible.

realizing that your entire social circle had been made up of individuals with various prejudices and unsafe viewpoints is always a jarring but necessary wake-up call

it's hard to make new friends but sometimes it's necessary.

imagine if instead of dumping billions into self-driving cars we invested a little in our public transportation

honestly, my take on the fbi is that anyone that works for or with them is a cop, because they are

i like my simple non-nuanced take. it helps me keep perspective

i know some peeps are talking about technicalities, but do you think that the feds give af when they come after oppressed communities?

there's a lot of history there, and lots of valid reasons for the bad vibes. to ignore it all bc someone is only "affiliated" with a horrifically bad organization seems like a pointless distinction

brain health (mildly funny? idk)

*pours myself a bowl of milk for the morning*

i am so happy that i am doing well after my concussion

... wait... isn't there something that's supposed to go into this bowl.... other than the milk....

the first thing that i do when i get a new operating system is to turn everything some shade of purple

if an operating system will not allow this, then it is a travesty and must be deleted

@stolas if you constantly agree with others in your same social sphere, blindly believe what a single person says while attacking those that do not, frequently feel a need to defend behaviors that you wouldn't defend from people outside of your group, and consider a single person to somehow be elevated above others........ then yeah, you might be in a cult of personality.

i wanna wrote code. but like, i found this old game and i just want to enjoy it...

time to look through my pre-prepared box of useful self justifications for procrastination.

people that follow cults of personality need to ask themselves why they are here.

replicating the toxic patterns found in other social networks will poison the fediverse.
