so, the reason that i had originally created my own instance was so that i could watch and learn how activitypub worked. instead, i think that i learned a lot more about how gargron thinks and how the project's internal politics ended up influencing its structure.

that's really interesting to me. also, activitypub as a protocol is simple it turns out. the downside is that implementing it is more of an art than a science. it tells you what to do but not how to do it.

also, there's something to be said about having an active local timeline. it's nice to have neighbors. i'm too attached to people to just go solo again, tbh
