@slooploon Maybe The Expanse? I didn't read the books, but from watching the adaptation I'd say it could match your criteria.
It's written by not just one but two white male though. No idea on what their sexual orientations are.

@lertsenem yeah i'm reading the 1st one atm, and it is exactly why i added the "not a white man" criterion. it's like... he tried, but it's still frequently misogynist and infuriating
@lertsenem yes i watch the show with much enthusiasm. the show is so much better, it leaves out the bullshit and add more depth to the characters too
@slooploon Wow, seriously? Then I'd recommend watching the show over reading the books: for me all the best and most relatable characters are female.
Maybe I'm just not sensitive enough to this issue, though. :/
