@slooploon Actually, I think there are a number of Star Trek novels that will fit the bill. Diane Duane's The Wounded Sky is dead on by description, but I haven't read it yet, so I can't verify Bechdel.

Duane's Rihannsu series (which I have read) follows women characters in the matriarchal Romulan society and I think they all fit.

Tears of the Singers is Uhura focused and features a space-time anomaly, but I also haven't read it yet.
