@Jsuttonmorse tysm!
@cardboard@tiny.tilde.website yeah i have no problem with white cis men being slammed. they still are the most privileged group on this planet by far. literature doesn't happen in a vacuum.
and like i said, it's about probability. yes, i've fallen on my face with books written by white women, or by black women, and got triggered badly. but it's some orders of magnitude less likely & when it happens, usually less extreme.
@Tablesaw thank you!
food
@gohomekiki yeah, especially where i'm at, every food i lose is a serious blow because the list of what i can eat is so short already. no idea how i'm supposed to survive until august :( i wish i was exaggerating
@Jsuttonmorse looong
@cardboard@tiny.tilde.website mainly because most cis men, especially white cis men, reproduce much discriminatory bullshit unknowingly if they don't actively & constantly check their privilege, and they rarely do. so the chance that a book that COULD be good is tainted by this shit is too damn high, like e.g. the expanse.
@numimyon yeah right??
@dani_p thank you!!
@tux_kate thank you!
@lertsenem yes i watch the show with much enthusiasm. the show is so much better, it leaves out the bullshit and add more depth to the characters too
@Efi thank you i will ask!
@lertsenem yeah i'm reading the 1st one atm, and it is exactly why i added the "not a white man" criterion. it's like... he tried, but it's still frequently misogynist and infuriating
@cwebber yes i am ok with "unknown science" allowing for so-far impossible things, i just need it to be done in a way that does not make me want to bang my head against the wall. thank you!!!
@halcy no i have no idea what that is
@WelshPixie thanks, but those requirements are really hard requirements for me :(
