there's a free site online where you can fill out the forms and e-file direct to the irs https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free
and a simplified form that assumes the most basic situation https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-1040ez
the irs documentation is pretty dense, but also really thorough
