i DO begrudge anyone for their unashamed love of harry potter bc it reveals an inability to critically examine its incredibly problematic content
other people who're much more familiar with the series than me have said much more eloquently than i ever could many many many times why it's extremely fucked
you know all the big ones: the bloodline basis of magic, the antisemitic stereotypes, the literal slavery
there's nothing worth saving in that franchise, its very foundation is garbage

in this day and age
it really reveals a lot about their (un)willingness to self-reflect and do the hard work truly re-examining things they've held dear since childhood
y'know, sorta like unlearning transphobia or something

it's like, we can read between the lines and see what's really being said in those books
not just in regards to trans people specifically, but more generally
@vantablack there is something grimly fascinating about the fact that we clearly have here someone who understands "the Nazis and KKK are bad" but only in a superficial/aesthetic sense; she has never had the empathy or capacity for common decency to properly internalize WHY
you can bet that somewhere in the rusted mess of cogs in her head there is a sentence along the lines of "the pronoun-havers, they're just like the Death Eaters, they're trying to force their IDEOLOGY on everyone"
