here i am, a ten-year veteran of the game, and i've got friends who i introduced to this game who've cleared content i've never even considered touching

@theryusui Yeah. On the one hand it's a great feeling because you were ultimately a good teacher. On the other hand, boy does it feel weird as hell.

I'm here struggling to clear the easiest raid tier in history (creator on content) and he's currently (as in, literally right this second), helping some friends clear UWU on secondary role because he's already cleared it like months ago. And he's cleared TEA with am 81st percentile too.

@Sacchi a friend and i burned through the Alexander (Savage) raids unsynced, and a sizable chunk of Omega (Savage)

first time i cleared any Alexander (Savage) besides A1S or A9S, and the first time I ever cleared O4S or O8S

O11S proved a brick wall for us thus far, though - one of us (me) needs to be healer and the other needs to be ranged or caster to burn the Level Checker, but she's only got DRG at 90 @_@

@theryusui I am lowkey considering tackling ucob just for the portrait and adventurer plate bonuses lmao

But I am also extremely aware that it would stress me the fuck out and as someone who is constantly drowning in anxiety I want to avoid stress as much as possible.

@Sacchi likewise, TEA, DSR, and TOP all look like absolutely incredible experiences but they would probably wreck me to even ATTEMPT to clear ^_^;

@Sacchi @aj that sounds like an argument in favor of playing with a gamepad XD

i've only ever played FFXIV with a controller; i've gotten good at quickly scrolling through ally/enemy lists using the D-pad

@theryusui @Sacchi the weird thing about enemy lists is the way they can wrap around—I needed to put Air Anchor into the shield the INSTANT it spawned or we'd wipe, and getting periodically owned because enemy IDs rolled over from X Y Z to A was maddening.

(this happened to our controller healers multiple times, not that I think it's a black mark against the input method—pros and cons, is all)

@aj @theryusui dpad targetting uses the same ruleset as tab targetting iirc, so that makes sense. i've been getting better at cycling through the enemy list instead of doing dpad targetting (L1/Equivalent + dpad up/down) although it conflicts with autorun so that's always fun
