Like there's a lot of things you can say about CLI interfaces, such as "they're bad", but at least *usually* when the instructions say "type fkdr -fdd 3 -- -f -s -d -o" the way that you do that is you type those actual letters in that order and you don't have to find the secret inner CLI to type them into

The final stage in Ungrateful Birds: Call of the Desert does something with the systems I designed that doesn't feel like I should have been able to, and that it absolutely was not designed to accommodate, and I'm really pleased with myself for pulling it off.

@arcadiagt5 it's weird realizing how much we take for granted these days such simple things as "the voice actors being coached on proper pronunciation"

Yu Yu Hakusho is another classic (casual transphobia in one episode aside) but it was startling noticing on a rewatch just how bad the pronunciations were

the Dark Tournament arc is particularly noticeable in this regard

@arcadiagt5 it's been standing up pretty well to a first watch, though i'm only up to the end of the Black Rose Duelists story

the dub is hit or miss as you'd expect from a '90s product; pronunciations are all over the place, but the standout offender is whoever they got to voice Nanami, which AnimeNewsNetwork.com suggests only had one other voice role, one of the Gym Leaders from Pokemon

fortunately the old-timey dub issues aren't enough to deter it from being an enjoyable ride

#watercolour #watercolor #aquarelle #landscape #painting #art Couldn’t sleep so I made a midnight painting in three layers. 1: A wash of Phthalo Blue GS. 2: Trees and islands in Phthalo + Burnt Sienna, then sprayed lightly with water. 3: More trees and islands in Phthalo and Burnt Sienna. It was fun, and I found that Phthalo + Burnt Sienna make an interesting green.
