which, honestly, lets me know that you have never - and will never - be under pressure from these groups. you're well insulated from them. you don't even think they're a threat.

and you think that way because you've been steadfastly ignoring voices who *ARE* under threat from these people.

i would urge you to get out of your bubble and consider their freedom to live.

@DashEquals@linuxrocks.online if someone doesn't want to make their app useless to the "many users" that are organizing to spread hate speech, that's a clear political action. and the political action is "neo-nazis are valuable members i want to make sure has access to using my piece of software, to the point where i'm going to ensure they are included."

this is still, as it were, aiding and abetting the enemy. this is why people are mad - and you should be too.

anyone who can shrug and say "d'oh well, too much work, ho-hum, it's just politics" can only come at it from a mountain of privilege, honestly. all of the people a neo-Nazi would like to see dead cannot say "it's just politics" and park it at the door, after all.

@DashEquals@linuxrocks.online @switchingsocial@mastodon.at @rugk @dublinux@mastodon.technology @mastalab and well, if the logic is "i can't make one decision, because then i would have to make more decisions, and that would be too much work", that's not really a moral victory as much as it is just laziness. at that point you're saying that you know people are getting harmed, and you COULD not contribute to that harm, but that's too much work and you can't be bothered to help stem the tide of flourishing systems out to kill others.

viewing politics as something you can park at the door and leave behind entirely shows a pretty naiive view of what politics is, as if it's a game of table tennis instead of how society is structured.

deciding not to make any political decisions is, by its nature, *also* a political decision. it's privilege that allows someone the option of being "not political". the effect is still going to be political, and you can't just absolve yourself of responsibility for it by saying "well i didn't MEAN anything political buy it", especially if your action-of-inaction is helping harm others.
