@Sapphicgiraffic@snouts.online oh my god she looks like one of those fancy pigeons that i can only describe as "the ones who look like they're about to meet the cops at the door and dramatically swoon when told about the mysterious death of their fourth well-to-do husband, leaving them an even richer widow than before husbands one through three also mysteriously died"
IT'S PERFECT
@InspectorCaracal it's fucking heartbreaking because some bits are ALMOST like animal crossing!
picking out furniture! making animal friends! designing a space! going to see what other people have designed!
but then it gets cruelly yanked back into quartermunching microtransaction hell, and i scream in agony

@benaiah@pdx.social tho it might be worth budgeting for a trip to sephora regardless since iirc they all have makeup artists in-house, and one of the services they provide is basically one-on-one tutoring, but idk how much money that is to get - or if it's "if you come spend enough money we'll tell you how to use what you just bought" lmao
also realtalk i've found my brushes off aliexpress better than the fancy shmancy ones so don't worry too much about buying an actual shitton of expensive ones
@benaiah@pdx.social e.l.f. is also a pretty low-cost brand that i think is really useful for kinda testing out concepts. they have some real winners and some losers, but not bank-breaking. wet n' wild is actually also incredibly solid - the things they do well, they do Really Well. nyx is also one of my go-to brands at a slightly higher price point
if $$ is no object though, walk into a sephora and go "i want to get into makeup but idk where to start", and they'll pick you up in a whirlwind LOL
@benaiah@pdx.social i might be able to kinda give some advice! i honestly am in much the same boat and am kinda working my way up
i will say that i really like japanese makeup and korean makeup since they often have more of an "accentuate what's there and keep it light" feel instead of the current "FULL COVERAGE FULL CONTOUR" thing popular in america. canmake is a really nice brand that has good tutorials on how to use, most can be applied with fingers, etc.
me: wow i wish i could see more of this person's posts more easily instead of just looking at the federated timeline

me: oh well nothing for it
@InspectorCaracal ok that's completely valid
but also, there are few furry versions that AREN'T more fun, just as far as activities go
more ice cold takes
- do you know you can just, like, wear a crown or tiara? there's no law against it. you can just do it if you want. nobody's gonna stop you.
- similarly you can just buy cake to eat whenever you want, even if it's not your birthday. even if it's an ice cream cake!
- understanding both of the above is basically the first step to enlightenment
- also shiny pretty things are nice to have and tasty things are nice to eat (here's where the ice cold bit comes in)
shit i've had too many hot takes this morning, i need to balance the system before it overheats! quick what are my coldest takes uhhh
- dogs are good and you should pet them
- the joy of your pet deciding of their own accord to come and sit with you and chill because they love you and wanna be with you is unparalelled
- people brushing/petting your hair is really really nice and satisfies deep monkey brain "social grooming good" instincts and should be more common as platonic affection
diet stuff question? sciency? idk?
@J like this shit really gets you if you're diabetic, but even normal people can be like "well i do feel a little gross after that", so yeah, eat some protein with your carbs you'll probably feel better
OK I'LL STOP AWKWARDLY INFODUMPING AT YOU NOW
diet stuff question? sciency? idk?
@J more important tho is to chuck in some protein along with any carb. protein is what your body breaks down the slowest. basically if you get your body all excited with some carbs, also give it some protein so that it also has something to do after that so you don't end up feeling hella ick.
this makes more sense in a graph hold on - i can't write on a mouse lmfao but hopefully this makes more sense
anyway here's a peak #spoonie meme to round up my Disabled Woman Yells At Cloud hour, tw for medical fatphobia/that general millieu of bullshit being made fun of
diet stuff question? sciency? idk?
@J if you've ever felt kinda sleepy or draggy after eating, say, a bunch of white rice, or a bunch of regular pasta, or just the post-sugar-rush bluh, what's happened there is that your body went "oh shit! a lot of simple little carbs! let's pump out some insulin to get 'em in there!", then it ran out of simple carbs to do that on, and so you end up feeling super bluch.
so whole wheat pasta can kinda help moderate that and keep it more even!
diet stuff question? sciency? idk?
@J oh hey my diabetic ass actually knows this
basically whole wheat aims to give you a more complex carb.
carbohydrates are like the first bits your body can digest and go most immediately to blood sugar. some are really 'quick' - sucrose, glucose, that kinda shit, sugar basically - others take more time to be broken down. this means your blood sugar doesn't spike up and then 'crash' as much
in which a wigglytuff expresses some political disgruntlement
like from a disabled point of view, there is no change. there has been no revolution. there has been no radical thought. there has been no difference made.
it's just the same shit in a scooby-doo-villain mask and a Che Guevara t-shirt, with goalpoasts irritatingly moved.
aim to make an actual difference, not just reheating the same bullshit, putting on a sprig of parsley, and calling it haute cuisine.
