and then the power goes out

thanks UPS handling the internet modem

LET'S SEE WHAT WILL HAPPEN FIRST:
1. UPS battery runs out
2. laptop battery runs out
3. power comes back

i wrote it as a joke but holy shit, "dwarven pro wrestling" is a fucking CHOICE fantasy concept

I learned about wrestling. I am filled with wonder.

@maya oh shit i have NOT heard of ooblets

i'm guessing it's not coming for switch (though i can hope! god bless nintendo opening the switch up to indies honestly), but i'm now VERY interested!!! i'll have to look also to see if there's any multiplayer -probably not, but one of my friend groups has been looking for a good "we can all play this together" game (and this might be nicer than "fallout 76 private server" lol)

until my new joycons get here tomorrow (and i may potentially rue the build quality of third-party), i've been sticking to games that don't use the shoulder buttons (or if they do i can only use the one working one)

so that has meant

remembering that Stardew Valley is real good actually

as usual though after looking at the news, CALL ME LOT'S WIFE 'COS I BE SAAAALLLLTTTTYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

in which a wigglytuff has a political grumble

basically it's all culminating in me being glad that i'm too disabled to go to church currently because if given the opportunity, i could give a real fuckin banger of a sermon on "we are sodom and gammorah, and no it has nothing to do with them queers, it has everything to do with the actual stated reasons that they got God-nuked, now let me tell you about rape culture and all the ways Trumpism is idolatrous evil"

the idea of actually applying your stated values to all aspects like that is something that shocks and confuses the vast fucking majority of evangelical christianity in america

as is the idea of *thinking* about these things, but that's another rant

anyway i think that an article running the numbers, from a catholic, going "i have to vote for warren because so many more people are going to be killed under repubs" is valuable for some folks to hear

like i may think they're wrong

but they at least are attempting to apply the same rule in more than just one aspect of policy. so pro-life doesn't mean just no abortion, it means no death penalty, it means healthcare for all, etc etc. i even appreciate the catholic priest who argues that you cannot be pro-life and own a gun for defense - because you can't be pro-life if you've already made up your mind to kill somebody.

did my daily facebook rant, found a pretty good article that i think will actually maybe get through to some people - a catholic hardline pro-lifer (yes yes i know) who is running the numbers and going "if we're actually being pro-life, republican parties are fucking SHIT for this in SO MANY WAYS"

i vehemently disagree with hardline pro-lifers but i at least appreciate the catholic folks out there going for it holistically with equal logic applied

@eightbitsamurai@elekk.xyz i feel like at this point a biologist could just casually stroll in to their offices and go

"heyyyy y'all know that our cells are constantly regenerating and replacing themselves, right? so it's about seven years give or take for a complete turnover"

and just watch heads explode

I played with my pet. I'm very fond.

@eightbitsamurai@elekk.xyz but this was after being raised up (when even smaller) bugging my mom to watch when she was playing king's quest or another computer game, and for awhile when my sister and i were both little, the video we'd watch over and over was a Corel Draw tutorial video lmfao, before making play newspapers

and even before that there's a baby picture where my dad programmed a baby toy for me (any button press = new random shape in random color and a random beep)

so like i said

NEEEEEERDS

@eightbitsamurai@elekk.xyz but more me enthusiastically showing off the house i was working on in Furcadia or the results of the latest wolfling run in Creatures 2 or whatnot, or even my mom joining us for the occasional LAN game of Age of Empires.

my family is def on one end of an extreme though since they even let me meet my online best friend in 7th grade; she and her dad came to my town for a few days and it was fuckin rad. my parents were all cool with it after talking to her parents more or less

@eightbitsamurai@elekk.xyz i'm probably an outlier here on account of being raised in a family of Massive Fucking Nerds, but i actually can't remember any restrictions on computer or game use? i'm sure there was some "do your homework first" at some point, but the only real rule - largely unspoken - was to keep mom and dad updated on what i was doing, even vaguely. and they were supportive and enthusiastic about all of my weird hobbies, so that wasn't exactly a chore >

kinda hate eyeliner but i gotta have {border-style: solid;} on the windows to my soul

Toreador: "Oh, the drama! Oh, the angst!"
Gangrel: "What's an angst?"
Set: "It's like a cross with a loopy bit on top. My guys love 'em."

@pie oh that's no problem then! i was thinking that you had like, JUST gotten your ears pierced and was going to worry about doing that on the train LOL

@pie if you're changing out piercings for the first time, that means that you're probably not totally healed up yet - they usually recommend to keep it in (but twist it every day) for like a week or so iirc (i'm fuzzy on exact length)

there will probably be a touch of blood doing the first swap of earrings/etc., but a tiny bit. probably more likely a scab.
