though honestly as much as we could beat rowling over the read re: flubups that show a vast nonconcern about accuracy or minority representation,
all of the things she's fucked up drive me crazy because it's THE GOOD AND INTERESTING STUFF
like why would you just say "oh one wizarding school in america" when there's a spanish-speaking one in california, the powerhouse of creole magic in louisiana with a sister school in quebec, a southern school that is dealing w/ civil war legacy, etc etc etc

The conversation with Todd from Purism was completely unproductive in my mind. In his view, there are only two possible options for moderation:
• Become a complete censorship machine with a slippery slope of who can or cannot speak
• Go by the jurisdiction users are in, hiding content illegal in certain jurisdictions and then removing content illegal in the poster's jurisdiction, for example a Chinese user's dissent against the Chinese gov't would be removed.
There are two problems that I brought up that, being that:
• Purism would be participating in the injustices of those countries
• Legal but harmful content would still be allowed, thus spreading harm.
I felt completely ignored when trying to get this across to him, especially that last bit. I also tried explaining to him that a slippery slope does not exist when you have set principles that you stick to within rules, but that completely flew over his head. It also ended with him basically telling me to solve the problem with a solution that works for every country everywhere and then get back to him. So, the block & boycott of Purism continues.

...i mean that's aside from my (admittedly white) confusion that they're combatting racism against asians by sending in a black artist. like... was nobody from asia available at all, disney? no? ok then
i still have no idea why disney is sitting on live action treasure planet and instead doign like... live action alladin. live action lady and the tramp. live action lion king.
the only redeeming factor in all of those for me is that apparently they hired janelle monae to do the lady and the tramp soundtrack re-do, but even then it's like... why isn't disney cleaning its own shit instead of just going "uhhhh the black lady is woke and can scrub clean the racist mess that is the siamese cat song"

well i may still have hands so dry that they're going pruny ( 🙃 ) but at least this giant tube of "oh god hand and body lotion, i bet this is going to be horrible, but it's within grabbing range" is turning out... actually some pretty motherfuckin good shit. which is nice when i'm having to constantly shovel more lotion into the hungry gaping maw of my skin
the dr at least is open now to talking about surgery to go see what is even going on in my shoulder and thank fuck, if this injection doesn't do anything positive
now all i gotta do today is hang in there and resist the urge to nap at 4pm only to wake up at 9pm with my day-night cycle completely fucked
