"all scabs should die" and "no scab's life is more important than the lives of the workers" is all good in isolation but it ignores the reality of these situations, in a way that is blissfully ignorant of the cruelties of the american healthcare system that disabled people find themselves trapped in

missing one appointment can often mean a heavy fee, a lack of medication necessary for life, or being declared a "noncompliant patient"

kinda tired of the black and white thinking people are applying to this uber strike and the like.

there ARE ways people can be pushed into 'being a scab'. disabled people are the perspective i'm working towards here for instance. like, yeah, it sucks.

but be mad at the system that fails both the workers AND the disabled person forced to rely on that same shitty system, not at the disabled person.

i may also just be wanting to write the one clone trooper oc i have, Helena of Nightshrike squad

who is, as you might imagine, trans. mostly i want to write all the other clones completely accepting it as routine lol. y'know, you get picked out for specializations; you could be a gunner, or a medic, or something else, Helena just took the Girl specialization along with grenadier. i mean she's got the piece of paper saying she's recognized by law to know how to wield that lipstick and everything

anyway i need to rewatch the clone wars series bc i just really like clone troopers as characters

all of them are wrestling with the fundamental issue of the purpose they were born for, and all operate in this space of "nobody really cares about us, except *us*; it's a welcome shock when someone sees you as an actual person like they are, but don't get used to it. in the end, you only have your brothers", which is just... interesting and often profound

also i think the prequels make a lot more sense when it becomes clear that the republic, as a whole, jumped the shark in morality way before palpatine declared himself emperor

it's why so many people just accepted the empire so cheerfully, why it was able to actually *happen* so easily.

and it also i think set up WHY everyone was pretty okay with the jedi disappearing. the population had put the jedi in the same category as clone troopers: disposable not-quite-real-people.

with that arc in mind, suddenly it makes a lot more sense that prequel anakin is there making choices like

"i have this terrible problem i am so worried about, who can i ask for help? ....WELL CLEARLY NOT OBI-WAN, THE MAN I CARE FOR DEEPLY AND CONSIDER A BROTHER, NOR ANY OF THE JEDI WHATSOEVER, LOL"

they kinda got there with yoda offering Fuckall Of Substance in the movies but it does answer that big plot hole of "why wouldn't anakin just ask obi-wan for help"

yeah it also is a show for kid's so it gets wacky but that's kinda star wars innit, you take the meditations on morality with the hijinx

srsly, there's an arc where obi-wan fakes his death, DOESN'T TELL ANAKIN, sets it up where ANAKIN SEES AND BLAMES HIMSELF, and like at no point does anyone step in at seeing anakin's grief and rage to go "maybe we should... tell him, you guys? maybe? i mean he's on a roaring rampage of revenge but... naaaah we don't need to tell him, it'll be fiiiiine!"

i see some Prequel Discourse and i'm just gonna chime in and say

the clone wars tv series (3d specifically, though the 2d one is also just basically art worth watching) does a whole lot of the explaining the prequels should have done.

it sets up things like:

-Anakin being driven to the dark side by being repeatedly let down by those around him and deeply traumatized by loss

-the Republic had it comin', made very clear by meditations on clone troopers as *actual people*

well yes. i took latin. it is not as useful for scoping out online drama as you might imagine?

monolingual american problems: seeing a cw in english, expecting something juicy, clicking the readmore, and it's all in french/spanish/dutch/any other myriad language that is totally beyond me
