I've probably bought $1600 worth of office chairs in the last decade or so, and they've all failed for whatever reason. Bad or leaky gas cylinders, broken screws, wobbly bases, bent parts, broken casters. It's about time I bought chairs that friggin work.
So I bought chairs identical to the ones I use at work. One for me, one for Mom. Merry Christmasbirthday, Mom.
It's just like buying shoes or headphones. Past a certain point, you just get so sick of them breaking all the time that you buck out for the best quality, most expensive one you can realistically pay for, in the interests of never having to do that again.
