The thing that surprised me the most when I got my M1 Mac Mini was that it played the exact same startup chime that my old PowerMac 6100 played on startup.

First thought was, "Wow, that's a blast from the past."

Second thought was, "How quaint, to play a sound when starting up." Do all Macs still do that? It feels odd these days. Kind of like it feels odd to attach sounds to various actions on the desktop. Like, yeah, that was a cool thing to do in the early 90s, but we've moved past that now.

@aaronsgiles And Microsoft axed Windows Startups since 10, which has somewhat depressed me ever since. Computers don't make enough cool sounds anymore.
