today's German word for you: Vorführeffekt

n., the phenomenon that something which was previously working correctly, suddenly does not work correctly when one tries to demonstrate the operation to others.

@wohali is there an opposite word to this, when you are trying to demonstrate a thing *not* working correctly (e.g. to a technical support person), except that it suddenly works perfectly in their presence? or is that technically still the same thing?

@wildweasel @wohali that would also be the Vorführeffekt as it is used whenever you want to demonstrate something but it shows a different behavior than usual.

@wildweasel @wohali can be used for both. I'd even say it's more often used for things that suddenly work again, but that might just be my luck

@wildweasel @wohali i joke that it's the scared computers knowing what's good for them when I get near
