@CornishRepublicanArmy I made a surprise visit to my family who lives over a thousand miles from me along with a man that they'd never seen before.
Now, they're well aware that I moved far away to get away from their bs, and so even though there was a possibility that he was my boyfriend (he wasn't, but we were quite close) they didn't say shit about him staying over christmas, because they had the space, and knew I could just leave and not talk to them for a year or more and not miss them.

Hell yeah! I intend to cut my family off asap, but first I have to like... be able to afford and be able to move out
@CornishRepublicanArmy Good luck. I grew up having to deal with mormon BS. I moved a few thousand miles away and rarely talk to them now. THe trip to visit them was more of an excuse to drive the coast (which I've been wanting to do for a while) than to actually see them. My family was just a convenient destination and stopping point for the trip.
For now, I'm not exactly No Contact, but I'm still trying to decide whether I want to make that step. They've been better since I moved away but IDK
