Sorry I'm still on this but what do you do when you love literally everything in a story based #RPG except the story?

#Gaming

@WhyNotZoidberg I mash the skip button and play the fun game. granted I don't have to review games so I don't really have issues with doing that. now if the story is unskipable that gets harder cause the game might be fun but with ADHD my ability to slog through large stretches of stuff that actively turns me off is low even if I'm trying to

@Arragonder It has nothing to do with the skip button. It has everything to do with the way the endings are written and the major plot point. (Sounds familiar from like 30 other AAA titles since 2012?)

@WhyNotZoidberg I guess i dont understand what a story based rpg is compared to an rpg with a story. I was thinking final fantasy 13 style cutscenes full of nomsense intercut with combat people seem to like (i vastly prefer lightning returns that game is rad) but i get the feeling you're talking about the new god of war and other rpgs like it where the story is unskipable because large chunks of it are diagetic. (I classify those as action adventure games) those are harder

@WhyNotZoidberg for those games i cant completely ignore the story so it's more a matter of how much it grates on me. If it's. Ot too bad it becomes a podcast game, if it's too much i drop it ansld can hopefully get my money back

@Arragonder I spent 38 hours in the game before realizing what continuing would do to the story, and that's a LITTLE over the 1 hour you have to return the game on Steam.

@WhyNotZoidberg ah i see the writing took a turn from bad to problematic. Yeah at that point i'd be SoL i guess. Being stuck in a financial situation where i only buy games at massive discount or acquire them without paying though means for me it's less of an annoyance than for someone that bought a new 70$(!) game and then got shafted. That would definitely piss me off way more.

@WhyNotZoidberg ive been enjoying "this way madness lies" the newest game from zeboyd about a magical girl highschool drama club going into old plays to fix weird events. It starts with going into romeo and juliet being invaded by plant monsters

@Arragonder Sounds interesting 🙂 🤔
I also bought Potionomics and Marlble World on the black friday sale but we'll see.

@WhyNotZoidberg i hear good things about potionomics and have also been playing dome keeper which is not getting enough attention imo but is also hard to explain since it's like similar to steam world dig type resource gathering but also a survival roguelite
