Hiveway's idea of crowdsourced community moderation was doomed to fail, like any attempt at total user control over moderation. This isn't a terribly difficult concept to grasp and yet it keeps happening.
The fact of the matter is:
Some large % of users aren't going to care. They aren't interested in doing what they see the sites's job for them.
A very small % will actually flag things that should be flagged, properly.
And then you get the other small % of users who are actively malicious, using the tools for their own ends.
@Xkeeper There's never going to be enough consensus for it to work either. Even if everyone agrees completely on the community guidelines (unlikely), any tangential topics that need addressing will produce a gamut of differing opinions.
Might be the case in mod teams as well, but I've not been in any.
