Anyone ever play Mabinogi?

I started talking to folk about it the other day and I kinda miss it, but I know that I was also frustrated with it too XD

I mostly just did music things though, have a nearly 10 year old video :V

@NinTheFolf Freestyle jams in Mabinogi were basically my favorite thing on the planet. The game did a lot of things really well... and was also impossibly frustrating in terms of grinding necessary for damn near everything ;_;

(btw Maplestory 2 seems like it's shaping up to do a lot of those same things pretty well, albeit in a slightly more condensed form that requires less time investment imo)

@Chel Yeah, I've been messing around in MS2 and I need to mess with the music stuff more. I've mostly been fishing.

@NinTheFolf I think one of my largest timesinks has just been working on my house, tbh. I have a couple different completely different saved designs at this point 😅

@Chel I neeeeed to mess with mine more. The only thing I've done is neatly arrange the gathering things.

@NinTheFolf you gotta start somewhere! :blobowo:

I've made a lil ranch looking thing with a large outdoor area and a lil lake, as well as an absurdly large mansion with two floors :blobsleepless:

I'm just glad that there are space limitations... otherwise it'd be like Minecraft, where I just try building things so large that they're impossible to finish ^^;

@Chel Awesome, what server are you in? I'd be curious to see it.

@NinTheFolf I'm in NA West!

...while nearly everyone I've interacted with that is into MS2 has been on NA East :blobsleepless:

@Chel I FEEL YOUR PAIN.

I picked west because the few folks I was gonna play with are on the west side, and suddenly EVERYONE ELSE IS ON EAST AND IT'S LIKE, why did you split the country nexon ;.;

Follow

@NinTheFolf It is a tragedy D:

...but it also made snagging 'Pink' as a guild name easier, so I guess it could be worse :blobthinking:

So you're on West? My name over there is... well... Chel! 😅

@Chel You weren't kidding, it looks like you spent a lot of time on it!

I'm still kinda low level cause playing through with friends, and getting us all on at once is hard XP

@NinTheFolf that’s a fun way to do it though, even if it is a little bit slower :blobowo:

Besides, it isn’t like the game is going anywhere any time soon, so it isn’t like it’s vitally important to rush through to the end tbh

@NinTheFolf the journey is the important thing, and with any luck it'll be a long one for all of us if Nexon doesn't mess things up :paw_fx90_pray:

(which, to give credit where it's owed, they've been... doing really good with the game so far, I think)

@Chel Yeah, I've been pretty impressed thus far with it.

I'm also really glad there's other things to do other than straight fighting and that it actually gets good experience (though whoops because of that I'm like, 10 levels ahead of my friends XD Not like it matters though cause I still have their level of gear)

@NinTheFolf Same, omg. Fishing? XP gain. Music? XP gain. Goofy minigames? XP gain! Looking through a random pair of binoculars? XP gain! It can get a bit silly at times 😅

...but in a good way, thankfully.

@Chel I know everyone hates it, but I'm really glad they have the Lubridium climb as a throwback to jump quests.

I pick that one every time I see it XD

@NinTheFolf Oh GOD. That thing. I am... completely useless at it D:

Like... Dance Dance, pls

@Chel Jump quests were my favorite thing in MS1 to the point I'd do them multiple times just for the heck of it.

All my friends hated me for it XD

@NinTheFolf Oh my goodness 😅

I just... can't even finish the thing. Crazy Runners? Easy. Dance Dance Stop? No problem! Ludibrium? Please excuse me while I flee in terror.

I tried to get into MS1 several times over the years, but it never really clicked. ;_;

@Chel My cousins got into the beta, early on it was really fun!

...more recently every time I try to look it's just...a mess.

Like, all the legacy stuff that built up over the years just. Gosh I do not recommend it at all. XD

MS2 gave it a fresh start with a new engine and man is it so much better.

@NinTheFolf That... sounds about right, heh. Kind of reminds me of Mabinogi when I finally got around to trying it - the interface was... a cluttered mess, with various things that had been added over the years in increasingly strange ways.

I look forward to MS2 slowly becoming similarly monstrous, probably gradually enough that I won't notice until a decade down the line. :blobeyes:
